Hello, I recently bought a 1984 Lada 2107 and I'm having some problems with the dashboard .

The rev counter is absolutely broken, it just sits there at zero and the speedometer rapidly oscillates +/- 5km/h no matter what speed I'm driving.

What could be the problem(s) and is that easy to fix?
Thanks.

I have never owned one of these cars, but I am curious as to your location? If you're in Canada you have a real rarity in the here and now!

Heh, I'm actually in Latvia and well it's left over from soviet times.
Since I was born after that I don't know any Russian and most of the information about this car is in Russian forums posted by other Russians, it's a Russian made car after all Very Happy.
I'm really glad I found this forum, because it's hard to find any information in English.

In Latvia this car is not considered a rarity at all, they're looked at as almost disposable and are mostly driven by senior citizens who've had them for the most of their lives and generally are not looked after very well/in a pretty bad shape.

I'd like to fix it as much as possible. And I feel most confident about doing electronic fixes(like a broken relay, blown fuses,etc..).
I'm glad there aren't any problems with the core things like the engine or the transmission.

I got the car just to learn to drive (I'm 16 and you can get a learner's permit at that age here) It's a rugged, basic, mostly-mechanical car and most importantly it's a proper manual Smile

the speedo might only need the cable or the bearing for the speedo
oiled-the tach is electric and first check will be to make sure all the
circuits to it are intact-(+ supply, ground and ignition coil -terminal)
I have a 2107 instrument panel on hand if you need more details
on which wires to check etc.

speedo sounds like a faulty speedo head or cable.

rev counter-other guages are working okay????
if not, could be plug on rear of speedo cluster,or as porschev812 said.
