I'm off to St-Laurent this coming Friday. My friend Louis and I are going to scour the local junkyard for stuff.

I'm looking for rims for my 92 Dodge Dakota and he's looking for parts for his Dodge sedan.

However, I've been told there are at least 2 Lada Nivas lurking in that junkyard. Shocked My goal is to locate them and takes tons of pictures if I find them.

Cheers !!

I could be very interested in parts of these fine Nivas!!

Ideally, I'd love to find one I could cut out patches for the wheel arches, a windshield, etc.

Keep us informed!

If one of those Nivas has a Weber carb that looks decent I would sure be interested in that. Had a line on one from a Chevette but the fellow backed out. I will be in Winnipeg on Sept 11 if one does have a carb for not too terrible much money. Just cant get the Russian one to run right. Now if it was a Ford flathead engine I might have a chance. Now that would be an interesting engine swap!

I think I know the junkyard you speak of, its a hell of a place LOTS of cars there (I mean LOTS) , you will be hunting for a good long while for those Nivas. If you find them and they are in some serious brush the owner will get his tractor out for you with a very mean looking spiky attachment to haul them over to some gravel for you to tear them down. I'm actually off on Friday....Now I wanna come hunting for some interior parts for my truck!!

OK, you're on !!

To ensure a flawless removal, I will cut through the rubber gasket. You can always order a new one from Gabor... or re-use the one you currently have.

Yes, the priority is to get it out. I am not concerned with the rubber!

Pick-a-part visit in St-Laurent was a bust... Crying or Very sad

I found the 2 Nivas but they were in very sorry shape.

Both windshields were broken... one is missing half the engine... bodies are rough...

Pictures to follow.

Well, it happens.

I have already accepted that I may have to get a windshield from Europe or some such.

There are still some floating around up here but are rare as dirt. Does Carmine have any leads?

Kind of a metaphor for the state of Lada in Canada, buried and gone!

Since they were never sold here I never have seen new Ladas. It's crazy, I almost can't comprehend Ladas that aren't screwed somehow!
