Here is my Lada 2106. Bought eighteen months ago. Rusty and a non-runner when purchased.

It's had two new front wings (fenders), front valance and a complete body respray.

Damn - a Lada with a vinyl top? This must have been one of the 1600SLX dealer-modified cars. Are those the original dealer-installed alloy wheels?

Beautiful car!

P.S. I take it you're from Worcestershire?

This model is known as the Lada 1600ES in Britain. The vinyl roof and alloy wheels were added when new at the UK import centre before distribution to the main dealers.

Luckily the car had been garaged, protecting the vinyl roof from sun damage (we do get the sun occasionally here!). The bodywork was in a poor state when I got it. Here is a photo taken eighteen months ago when I purchased it:

As you can see holes in both front wings, poor repairs and bad paintwork.

Luckily although the car is now thirty years old, I did not have much trouble sourcing new parts. Two new front wings, front valance and chrome clips all cost me less than £100. It was the labour charges that added up!

P.S. Yes I am from Worcestershire so I have plenty of scenic routes and country lanes to enjoy my classic Lada - when the rain eventually stops!

You have the original factory wheels on yours with the push on chrome wheel hubs. I'd like that on mine. Terrific car!

This is brilliant. I always wanted a right hand drive Lada to my collection, and a 1600 with a vinyl roof is just the thing. Now I have a new obsession.

And great job on the repair.

Which year it is? 1978? 1979?

Don't you want original mirrors, wiper blades and steering wheel for it?

Do I see it right, it has heated rear window?

I still have my Lada 2106 but have recently purchased this to go with it:

It's a 1979 Lada 2102.

The car was registered in England in February 1980, year of manufacture would be 1979. The mirrors on the car are original Russian made ones which I sourced from Hungary. The steering wheel is an original Lada steering wheel from an earlier Lada 2101. I prefer this because of the lovely chromehorn ring in the centre.

And yes, it does have a heated rear screen. Probably installed by the importers in Bridlington, East Yorkshire.
