Ben you're right about the idea of spending $2,500 to ship over a Lada that even on the Best days and in amazing condition would never fetch more than $5,000 unless you found some really Drunk Russian, and you're right about 2CVs, people think Awwww How Cute!! Until you tell them how much a really good one sells for, then they're like Oh No Way! You gotta be F-ing Kidding Me!! My first car was a 1963 Austin Mini which I paid $1,500 for in 1981, seemed like a lot of money at the time, Today you couldn't buy rusted out POS parts car for $1,500. People just think it's cute, it's odd, it's gotta cost about about $500. Ha Wrong!!!

Hi all

i am new to this forum. I'm currently in the process of shipping a 1973 VAZ 2101. I paid 1500 for the car and the shipping is 3800 ( I was unable to split the container ). The car looks awesome and the person who checked it out for me says its solid. We'll see!

Hi everybody!
Moved to US two years ago from Russia, and (my wife will gonna kill me for that) now I'm thinking about possible ways to get Niva here, at US.

Does here anybody have experience in US Customs registration process?

(To find the right car at Russia and to ship it to US - not a problem in my case)

Needs to be at least 25 yrs old or appear to be at least 25 yrs old on paper. After that it's relatively easy.

Thanks for quick response

As far as I know from Russian Customs process - I need to pay for registration and is there any other fees?
Like % from sales price? or like 3$ for each cm3 (for niva it will be 3$*1500 = 4500$ for example)
Emission Inspection extra fees?
Any others?

You'd need to wait until one of our US members comes on line for specifics.

As far as I know there is no emissions test.

I currently have a 87 Samara that I have registered as a 1978 Lada 2108, yeah I know the 2108 didn't exist in 1978, but hey it worked! I plan to register it as a 87 after January. Yes this car did come from Canada and was brought to the US where it sat until I bought it, Was nice, only a 10 minute drive for me to go collect it versus having to go to Canada to get it. The main reason I bought it...Todd
