Niva comes North and Samara heads back south. As for the Niva.... this thing needs a lot of work to put it mildly.

just starting my new thread.

I hate bodywork. Might end up having to strip the whole roof. no time tonight. just checking how bad it is and then just sealing it up till later. Note my hightly effective dust mask.

Going to rain. Won't be able to put a topcoat to seal it. Oh well no biggie it's just the roof so primer will have to do because i gotta go to work. l8r

Thx Richard. How's the 2104? I haven't been kicking around the forums in a long time.

Thx to Madman we replaced the chain guides last summer and got her started.

This weekend I'm changing the plugs, wires, etc. and tuning her up so I can drive her around again.

Cheers !!

It's going to be a very slow project. First time we got to do anything since we got it. I only put a tiny chip in the glass getting the windshield out YAY.

The Tremclad paint is not working anywhere near as good as the Armorcoat Red did on my last Niva. I'm enthusiastically giving Tremclad one and a half thumbs down for coverage. It does look way better in the pics than in person for what it's worth. Might bail on the orange but sticking with it for now.

Have to work tomo so we had the bird today. Seeing as it was the only day that wasn't raining on my days off, I got a tiny bit more done. Still have the back to do then re-coat the entire thing. at this point the 2nd coat might not happen till after the winter and if the rain doesn't time itself a little better the back end might not get done till next year too.

My wife painted the background of the emblem with nail polish LOL. Had to pull it apart and remove the flaking and faded black/grey coating with the sander then clip it back together

Nice job bud, good to see that you picked up another Niva. For someone as busy as you seem to be, you manage to get quite a bit done considering. With winter around the corner, especially up in the Soo, I guess you won't have much of a chance to get much done. You deserve a garage....lol
I'm sure you would put it to good use.

I still have my Niva, engine out, garaged but not heated. Still can't seem to find the time, and other stuff always ends up as storage and in the way. Not sure what will become of it, have to wait and see. I am still somewhat of a rookie to all this rebuild thing anyway. That being said, the Niva is a perfect candidate for that..

Later....
