Howdy folks,

I'm taking my '91 Lada 2104 out of storage so I can have an occasional "second vehicle".

I started the car last year but this time around I think the starter is dead.

All electricals work, the battery is juiced up, but the starter does not turn over.

I've inspected the connections and all seems ok.

Anything else I can check before I pull the starter ??

Cheers !!

One time I had similar trouble with the Niva but it was the connection where the wire entered the solenoid. Since you have already checked connections, I am not sure what you could do except pull the starter. Hope things work out!

pull the solenoid wire connector apart. it's a thicker red wire goes to a off white single blade connector. jump that connector the the battery to rule out all the wiring between the battery, key switch and starter.

Obviously make sure the vehicle isn't in gear before doing the above. It should crank over the engine.

Good morning Lada fans !!

Update on the starter...

I orderend a starter and new sparkplug wires from our good friend Gabor in Hungary last week.

I'm thinking I should get them late next week.

Cheers !!

Wow, this post is seriously in need of an update.

I never did get the parts from Hungary. Sad

However, i did get the money back and reordered the other day from LadaMoscow (Sergey). Him and I are also trading some Lada bits.

Anyhow, I tested the spare starter I had and it works... so in the car it goes this Saturday.

Excited !!!
