I've been reading through all the old posts including Andre & Baxter's stories.
It sounds like the Weber DGV/DGEV/DGAV 32/36 is a top option and a direct fit for the stock manifold. Can anyone comment on any linkage requirements/changes on a LHD Niva? Andre's write-up includes some recommended jetting, but does anyone know what a new Weber Redline 32/36 comes with?

I've also seen a huge variety of "Lada" carbs, but can't seem to find any specifics on interchangeability or technical bits to compare them all, apples to apples...

eg.
2107-1107010-20 , second link 2107-1107010-20
21073-1107010
21053-1107010-20
21053-1107010-62 - supposedly the one used on Canadian models?
21083 - Lada From 1700cc Sport Solex Carburetor 28/28
21083 - Lada Under 1700cc Sport Solex Carburetor 24/26

I'll likely be starting with a stock 1600, eventually swapping in a 1700, possibly after boring & stroking it to a 1950. I'm inclined to go with one of the genuine Weber options as the parts & jets are easy to buy, but some of the new Lada carbs are dirt cheap. Often when fitting carbs, I've found the little bits can quickly add up to more than the carb itself eg. all the bits for the dual 40 IDF's on my Fiat 124.

I don't know if this is representative of an oem 21073 carb, but I found a chinese version with some pictures and it looks like it is about a 32-32. Their description indicates it's the carb for the 1.7L engine. I always thought the 1.7L represented the transition to fuel injection, first TBI, then later MPFI.
