Well the original owner (you are now the 3rd) Said that he reckoned that the Oly had less than 5,000 Kms on it (it wasn't used very much) and the Ski-doo mechanic seemed to agree that it only had around 5000-8000kms on it. Witch would explain the lovely looking track Very Happy.

I suspect the original track was replaced at some point simply because the current one looks too new to be an original. Hey, I'm not complaining... new is good. LOL

As for the low mileage assessment, I agree, just by looking at the overall condition of the sled. The engine cowling is virtually damage free, the internal components don't look beaten up and the channel is straight and dent free. I did notice however some riveted plates under the seat and the fact the channel has been painted. I surmise this was done when the seat was changed and the original attachment points were removed.

OK, all done !!

On Saturday pm I parked the Oly in the yeard, under a snowmobile cover. It will have to wait there until January.

I should be back on my feet by then and able to go snowmobiling !!!

Well, it's January... and I'm going sledding this Friday !!

School is closed so the girls are off to my uncle's property on the Roseau River.

I think my uncle has half a section along the Roseau and he's been making trails through the woods there for years !!

Here's a link to his website: http://www.oroseau.ca/

Like my uncle says, "Oroseau is a user-initiated adventure area that offers a wide variety of recreational activities for groups and individuals."

Cheers !!

After yesterday, I've had so much anti-fun with snow that I had to refer to myself in the third person narrorative sense.

Marty doesn't like snow.
Marty sometimes refers to himself as "Vince."
Marty drink a lot when he explodes a snowblower.
Marty hates McAfee, and dislikes it when he can't install Kaspersky.

Marty enjoys referring to himself as a third person.

Wha.... I just had that f'ing pull cord replaced! (As well as the springs and *maybe* the recoil) It seems very strange that a practically new pull cord would brake unless a cheap one was used.

Could be a cheap or a used one was used as a replacement.

No big...

I will either replace it myself or find someone local who can do it.

Cheers !!

If your getting someone else to do it,don't let them con you into replacing the springs or recoil unless you can see yourself that they need replacing. I'm 99% sure we got the recoil and springs replaced, cause to replace that+a tune up cost me $300.

Hooray for me... I replaced the pull start cord on my skidoo today...

I had to figure things out as the instructions I found online where nothing like what I found when I removed the recoil unit.

Anyhow, fixed it up, slapped it back on tried to fire up the skidoo... but no joy.

After some snooping around under the hood I found that the old primer bulb had dried and cracked so I couldn't prime the carb. Removed the primer bulb and slapped on a regular fuel line. Used the priming button that was retrofitted on the dash and got the gas to the carb... and the old girl fired right up !!!

I will post pics later today and I will also provide a link to my youtube page where you can watch a little movie of me starting the skidoo and letting it run a bit before shutting it off.

Later !!!
