Two more sleeps…

And then my buddies and I go camping on Garner Lake in Manitoba.

This lake is located in Nopiming Provincial Park and is accessible via Beresford Lake, where my brothers and I own a log cabin.

The plan is to leave Thursday nite, sleep at the cabin, and leave for Garner first thing Friday morning.

We are returning to civilization on Sunday nite… not long enough but better than nothing.

I am bringing my black powder musket so I can do a bit of target shooting… that’s always fun !! Twisted Evil

After last weekend's bannock over the fire, I had a hankering for some more... but I used the oven.

I used my great-grandmother's recipe... the side of the family I draw my Métis heritage from.

Bannock

2 cups flour
2 tbsp margarine (or lard/fat traditionally)
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup cold water

450 F - 20 minutes

or cook over a low fire in a cast iron skillet

Ready for the over. What you see below is a double batch... it will have to cook longer than the stated 20 minutes.

Yummy golden goodness.
