Hi everyone,

About a month back I took apart everything inside of the engine compartment of my Lada that was related to the running of the gasoline engine. This afternoon, I hooked up a charged battery, turned the key and saw that nothing switched on.

I noticed on the wiring schematic, and in reality, that there were three wires that came out of the positive terminal. One, pink, that went to the alternator that I hooked back up, a second, pink, that went to a wide bundle of wires that seemed to be making their way to the passenger compartment, and a third, black, that goes to the starter motor but remains disconnected because I have never had one in my car.

From memory, I removed the radiator, cooling fan, alternator, carburettor, air filter, fuel pump, spark plug leads, fuel level detector, all cables going to the motor and the funky metal box under the front passenger seat that looks like a car computer.
After hooking back the alternator and the computer, I still had nothing.

What is it that I disconnected that could have caused the electrical system to refuse to switch on? Or, could my problem be elsewhere?

The battery is good. As for the starter, I already got the electrical system to fire up without it just fine. I guess I'll give the fuses a few "tappes d'amour."
Today, I'll put all of the hookups back to their original gasoline related parts and see what makes my car tick.
