Finally got my Lada! After an initial unsuccessful attempt to import one from Russia, I found the one that I wanted in Hungary and it is here. I will try to post pics tomorrow. It is a red 21013 ( essentially a 2101 with minor cosmetic differences ). No rust anywherel although the outside is a bit dull and needs a nice detail. The interior is mint as are the mechanics. The only thing it needed was an oil change and a new alternator belt. The car appears to have been very well maintained with all other fluids clean, new plugs, wires, air filter etc.. The engine runs like a clock, suspension is tight and drives awesome! Got my temp. plate and waiting for the title. The only thing I did to it was replace a radio with a JVC bluetooth/usb head unit and a new pair of rear speakers. I had one of these growing up in the good ol USSR and really excited to have one here.
Pics to come! |

Cool, thanks! Hopefully I won't. I had the bill of sale, the original title and customs papers that I submitted to my currency exchange. They gave me a temp. plate and said wait for 3-4 weeks for the real plates, a bit longer for the title. |

A bad day working on the Lada is better than a good day at work. |

What container company did you use to bring the car here from hungry?
I have a friend in Germany and I'm thinking I should bring a few to Canada in a 40ft from hamberg.
I go to the rail yards almost every day |

I used a shipping company to do it, so I don't know which container they actually used. The guy I bought it from shipped it from hungary to bremerhaven. From Bremerhaven, a company called TransCar gmbh shipped it to Baltimore. Oceania shipping helped handle the customs, and then I used Montway auto shippers to deliver it to my door. |

What was the total cost of importing it, if you do not mind sharing? _________________ Leon R |
