I don't know much. 90's Samara 5 door hatchback. Over 300k on the odometer (from what I heard). 1500i. Bit o rust. Brake lights weren't working. And my twin brother drove it the two blocks to his house from where I found it. Now I gotta wait to get it up to the soo.

I looked at that one before I bought my niva. At least I think it is. Guy said it was his dads and hasn't moved in 10 years or so. Same one?

So far so good. Chilling at the brothers. (BEER!)

Step one reserve UHAUL dolly....

Step two..... F uhaul! Mad

Step three. Buy cheap dolly sight unseen. You gots to do what you gots to do.

Step four... see the fam and play with a Samara that smells like it's been sitting for at LEAST 10 years and is apparently infested with ants. Shocked

So far it's running on 3 cylinders. Using my broke down in the bush method of diagnostics... Number 1 cylinder has a dud fuel injector. The injector harness is labeled Delphi so if anyone has any idea offhand the injector i'm looking for hit me up.

The brake lights is a seized switch. Quite a bit of the material inside has suffered some kind of chemical breakdown from sitting. Like the trunk plastic cover. There are a couple rust bubbles and a few minor scrapes. but otherwise it is in surprisingly good shape.

The wiper/turn signal switch assy is broke so will try so source something somewhere.

I am doubting the 300,000km aspect but will look for some kind of service record somewhere. The battery was new in 2000 because we found a warranty card Shocked but still holds a charge. Very fun! Chunked it around the yard on three cylinders Very Happy anyways. Gots to go to bed. Long drive back tomorrow and that's not including going back to work tomorrow night Confused

Made it home with only one incident. The one crossbar/hub support on the dolly started disintegrating. I got it bodged up good enough for the last 500km of the haul. Didn't even have time to play with my new toy yet. That Samara engine sure looks like a different animal than what I'm used to.

Chow for now.

Spent a few hours playing with it yesterday.... Still only running on three cylinders Confused .

The fuel injector for #1 is ticking but might not be working as the spark plug comes out the same way it goes in and not wet. Pulling the ignition lead while running makes your hair stand up but does not make any difference to the idle baseline. I fixed the cooling fan the relay as it was not kicking on...... a little bit of massaging with the butt end of a screwdriver fixed that problem Razz

I guess next step whenever i get time is a compression test.

Back to work.. no rest for the wicked Neutral

Played with the motor for a couple hours today still running on 3 jugs. Definitely going to run a compression test next time i can get a few hours with it. I have exhausted all reasonable alternatives.. looks like it might be purely a mechanical issue. will update if i find anything.

Chow for now.

Congrats! I miss my Samaras dearly. Hope to see this one up and about soon. I have part sources in Québec if you're interested.
