I'm adding to my Russian "arsenal"...
I purchased a WWII era M91/30 bolt-action rifle straight from the Motherland and will be taking delivery tonite !!
These bad boys fire the 7.62x54r cartridge that is the equivalent of the 303 and the 308.
I had a chance to fire a Mosin a few years ago and I never forgot the feel and the kick !!
When it came time to pick a rifle to go deer hunting with my brothers the Mosin was the natural choice... and it's Russian to boot !!
In a year or so I'll probably buy an SVT-40 Tokarev... the Mosin's big brother... a semi-auto that fires the same round.
I'll post pics later tonite !! _________________ Richard "Lada" Loiselle

OK, picked up the Mosin...
First impression is WOW... and then I saw the hex receiver...
Date stamp is 1934... hex receiver - from Tulla !!
Bolt, action and butt plate have matching numbers.
The bore is beautiful !!
It has the "Concentric "00" Accuracy P AND the Point of aim proof.
The stock has its share of dings and scrapes.
Came with a bayonet, oiler and all the usual tools... but no sling.
Pics to follow !! _________________ Richard "Lada" Loiselle

looks like the guy I got it from was wrong about mine being US-looked it over close and it is Russian ww2 era-on barrel: 1945r and HT8503.US made mosin nagant was supplied to Russia in ww1 but not ww2 according to what I found online. |

You are correct. The US produced an early batch of M91/30s pre-WWI but nothing after.
The "r" behind 1945r means "year".
have a look at the website 7.62.54r.net for some great info on these guns.
BTW, the sling I ordered from a guy in Moldova arrived yesterday.
Here is a look at what is printed inside.
Here it is on the gun.

nice sling-even has authentic hammer and sickle.I once shipped a Russian made radio/phono from Chisnau Moldova-cost me about $200 to ship about 8 yrs ago.A maxim 1910 machine gun would be a cool ww1/ww2 Russian relic to have too-always thought those looked pretty cool with the little spoked wooden wheels carrage and water jacketed barrel.Even a wooden replica would be cool |

Nice gun. I have shooting as a sport and got a Sauer 200 STR. This is a gun who is also used by the special forces in the police. I am also a little gun collector and one of my favourite weapons (wich I dont have in my Collection) is the Colt 1911. Use the gun wisely and take good care of it. _________________ 1986 Lada Samara 1300 wrecked

I am ordering an SVT-40... essentially the Mosin Nagant's older and more badass semi-automatic brother !!!
Lever Arms in BC is running a $199 Christmas special !! _________________ Richard "Lada" Loiselle

A Colt 1911 is a classic !!
Had the opportunity to try one at a firing range last spring. Totally awesome !!
Found out I shoot pretty accurately with my left hand only, as well as with the classic 2-hand grip !! _________________ Richard "Lada" Loiselle
