I know this has been discussed before but I've not found any definitive answer that has been usable for me. I have a nearly rust free 97 Niva that I want to put a VW 1.9L td into. I have the engine but no kit. I've been told to email a couple of different companies but I never hear back from them. I even had a friend of mine translate my email into potugese for the Brazilian companies.

I'm not opposed to building a kit myself but I'd rather not if I don't have to.

Can anyone help me find someone who will deal with me or even technical drawings that I can take to a machine shop and have the adapter plate made?

Well all I've got is http://www.atacama4x4.com.br/

All the other web site I've been referred to seem to be defunct.

If I have to I'll use the 2 backing plates and build my own but I'd really rather not.

I'll have to get a front diff mount too but those are reasonably easy to come by.

what happened to the black nive the guy entered in a car show {way back 2-3 years ago} it supposedly had a vw 16valve????? also similar to tdi. your best keeping the lada motor, for reliability and gearing reasons. More hp breaks gearbox and drivecomponents unless they are upgraded!!!! Wink

Well, no one seems to get back to me about kits, so, I found a Hutterite colony with a CNC machine that should be able to cut me an adapter plate. I'll likely get 2 cut and sell 1. Or maybe post the technical drawings for people to cut their own.

The Hutterite was uninterested in the work, he's swamped with oil rig work. But I did find this : http://avtomag.autocentre.ua/180277173

I work with a Ukrainian fellow who just moved here and has loads of family and friends back there. I'll post the info I get when he makes contact, I find web translators more confusing than quantum physics that's been dictated by an untrained ape.

Sorry I've been absent for quite a while. I didn't mean to ignore you.

I never did get that VW running, we put in a Lada motor so that he could drive the thing and never found the time to get the VW motor in. Now that he's driving it he doesn't want to be without it again.

I am happy to answer any questions you have but I must admit it's been a while since I thought about it and my memory sucks.

I'll send you my contact info.
