been there, done it already...

i had a 1.8 liter with very high compression, 13.5 bar cylinder pressure, guess it was pushing well over 120hp and a 43/10 diff. excellent for city driving, even better for drifting but unbearable on motorway.
it would drift all day long on very rough concrete surface with 205's in the back in 2nd gear.

2 liter is a bit lazy engine because bore is smaller than stroke (84mm/90mm) and it likes longer transmission ratios. 39/10 would suit it the best but then you'd be drifting in 1st at 50kph. on motorway with 5speed it will go well beyond 170kph

this was my 1.8, with correct speedo drive gear

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DnOWwQykTU&list=UUXB9BsUTIlUTagMkzz2l_JA&index=36&feature=plcp

and later, with 2.0 and 39 diff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHoWPdsImRs&feature=autoplay&list=UUXB9BsUTIlUTagMkzz2l_JA&playnext=2

so it really depends on what you wan't to achieve. short diff gives you savage acceleration with lots of noise while longer one let's the engine show it's awesome mid range torque

I know what is what about the gear ratios...
I have done my homework as you, precisely, said Razz
That I want about my car is to be a good tourer depends on how powerfull is...
Now (in 1300 TC), I think that 43/10 and a 5sp gearbox is a good combo...
If I go bigger in a 2L, I'll put a 3.9...

I loved your 124 speedometer!!! This is what I want to mine...

4x98 or 4x100?

you can use standard wheel bolts from fiat 131 or 132, they're about 5mm longer than lada, just right for alloys.

These are genuine BBS from BMW E30
PCD 4x100, just like my previous 15" alloys...
I didn't know it about 131/132 but I already have longer bolts Wink

make sure you have centre hole that fits lada, 58.1mm, or you're in for a world of problems. if necesary get adaptor rings made out of aluminium, not plastic.
believe me, wobble bolts don't solve the problem by themselves. i've done it before...

No...we don't have enough...it's pretty rare to find one...
These years (the 80ies till early 00s) the taxes were unbearable if you drive big engines so the most common lada's were 1200...Even 2105's were fitted with 2101's 1200 chain drive engine...1300cc 2105 are pretty rare too...
This is major problem beacause it's difficult to find really good cars with strong engines now...For example it's more common to find out 1300TwinCams instead of 1600 or 2000...
