For the front and rear shocks - the rs5605for the front is correct, for the rear you could use the rs5601. I got these from the Rancho catalog, I also installed a set of the 5601s in the rear and they fit perfectly.

thx guys. Still drawing a blank when it comes to the 1.7i wire sets though.... WTF. I'll have to try and find some old parts catalogs.

I did quite a bit of part research for the Niva when I purchased it a couple of years back....
I don't know where I got this number for the wire set.....and I'm not even sure if it's right because they're still in the Canadian Tire bag sitting in the trunk. Had the number handy and the set was on sale so I picked them up one day.....

Bosch #09455-Niva 1.7i....?
CTC#18-2340-8-Niva 1.7i...?

No problem. Like I said though, I'm not sure if they're the right ones but we'll soon figure it out... Smile
Don't worry, I've been lurking around, always trying to learn a thing or two from you guys. The niva's been sitting pretty much all year now. It's drivable but needs a little work. I don't want to further damage anything. I'm being very, very patient and holding out until I get space to work on it someday. It's killing me to have it just sit there though. Something to look forward to I guess.

I found a couple more numbers that may be of interest.....

Starter Motor
Wilson #91-36-7500 for Niva 1.7i
Here's a great link from the Wilson site with more info and a cross reference for this starter. I worked at UAP Traction, we dealt with Wilson product. May be able to get one through them if needed.
Once on Wilson site, click on B.O.M. link for starter parts, part numbers.

Alternator
Wilson #90-36-7507 for Niva 1.7i

I really need a fuel filter! Anybody got part numbers for anything that can be bought locally at either NAPA or Canadian tire?

Good luck on finding something at Canadian Tire or Napa. I've gone through this one before Confused Always ordered the wrong one for me, almost, but not quite. Here are my findings on a fuel filter for Niva 1.7i........I"m pretty sure these are OK

Fram #G5915
Mann #WK612/5
AC Delco #GF613
Fiaam#FT5372

Chris (crb247) may be the best source for this filter and he may not even know it. Laughing He would have to buy a case of 12, become a distributor and supply us all, and of course make a profit for himself. Smile
Here's the link to a place in the Sault.
Note: when you enter a part number in the search field, you actually have to click on "Check for price and Delivery" to get results. If you key in and hit enter, it doesn't work....it has a really good cross reference, you can check for oil and air filters too...

Carmine, would be same as using escort 1.9 clutch disc then? and reusing the rest of your old hardware?

and Chris, if it really is $20 for a case of 12 fuel filters, I'll front the cost, and you pick them up

hand them out to whoever needs them
